FP7 runs from 2007 to 2013

The EU's largest ever funding programme for research and technological development, the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), was launched on 1 January 2007.
With a total budget of €50.521 billion, The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) will run for seven years (2007 to 2013). FP7 will aim to build on the accomplishments of the previous research framework programme, and will be implemented through four specific programmes: Cooperation, Ideas, People and Capacities. For each type of objective, there is a specific programme corresponding to the main areas of EU research policy.
The 'Cooperation' programme will support research cooperation in a number of key thematic areas, one of which is Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) with a budget of €9.11 billion.

ICT Work Programme 2007-08

The objective of ICT research under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) is to improve the competitiveness of European industry so that the demands of its society and economy are met. Download 4-page overview of ICT in FP7 (172KB).
ICTs have a catalytic impact in three key areas:
· productivity and innovation, by facilitating creativity and management;
· modernisation of public services, such as health, education and transport;
· advances in science and technology, by supporting cooperation and access to information.
